Compare
P1TS runs on the AKS V2 timing protocol in two ways: hosted in the cloud, or on-premise on the pitwall. Both are compared below against a typical other-vendor on-premise setup.
| P1TS Cloud | P1TS IMSA Pitwall | Other Vendors | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deployment | Hosted | On-premise | On-premise |

P1TS with AKS V2 - advantages
- Network disruption resiliency - no data loss even when networks are unstable
- Authoritative (vs. calculated) data - drive, pit lane, and sector times come from the timing system itself rather than being derived locally
- Smart race control - semantic message parsing, with hero and sister car message highlighting
- Higher fidelity track positioning, where available
Which one fits
P1TS Cloud needs nothing but an internet-connected Chrome browser and works from anywhere - pit stand, trailer, spotter location, hotel, or shop - on Windows or Mac laptops, tablets, phones, and smart TVs. It's the simplest option and updates automatically.
P1TS IMSA Pitwall runs on a Windows PC connected to the IMSA pitwall router, for teams whose track internet isn't reliable enough for the cloud option - cellular and Starlink connections at some circuits are sporadic. Other devices on the pitwall LAN can still reach it over Wi-Fi as webapps clients. Software updates are engineer-managed rather than automatic.
See Deployment for how each option is actually deployed and accessed. Contact P1TS for details on future capabilities.
